Castor Troy – Akimbo
Castor Troy are a product of numerous member changes and
re-branding from previous projects but have remained catastrophically genius in
their song writing process and live performances, their new track Akimbo swings
them into a new sound direction and separates them from the previous hardcore
sound they developed. Akimbo incorporates a first for front man Robbie Burton
with soothing clean vocals accompanied with his signature throat vocals, the
new single paves way for a new playing field for the band as it opens an
entirely new market for fans interested in melodic metal as well as hardcore.
Castor Troy have taken a look at the surrounding market and
have adapted their sound to be more at home in their local scene, they are a
strong independent metal core band and they don’t need no hardcore kids to get
by.
Akimbo is a flag ship for Castor Troy to change their sound
from pure hardcore and to blend a little more into post hardcore, melodic metal
or whatever other genres incorporate a clean and throat vocal set, if they stay
on this sound path more doors will open and behind one of them will be a huge
opportunity, a great piece of work from a local band.
Final Riff Rating: R R R, a great insight into what the
future releases may sound like and a brilliant change of musical direction.
