Colour Me Stunned

Colour Me Stunned - My Sides Heavy, What About Yours?

Colour Me Stunned have sent us their EP to check out, track listing is as follows:

Tied Down To A Loose End

Capulet

Tell Me

We're All Burnt Out

Daggers And Tongues

Two Weeks Too Long

The EP opens with a slow intro which gently soothes you into a sense of false security before erupting into an energetic fireball of modern day pop-punk brilliance, backed with fast paced riffs and packing a great vibe Colour Me Stunned manage to capture a pop-punk loving audience from the start.

If everyone judged bands on the quality of recording we would get nowhere these days, the EP is a rough copy but we have seen bands go from rough demos to brilliant perfect tracks, the sound is in the band, not the recording.

Carrying on a similar theme Capulet seems to open slowly before spreading into something much more aggressive, like an STI for your ears, in a good way of course. The guys are a real eye-opener to people claiming the music scene is dying.

A much calmer start with a melodic instrumental laid over with soothing vocals demonstrating how adaptable the band can be, changing from energetic, pulsing music to a more calming vocal heavy song...that is until the music picks up towards the end!

We're All Burnt Out is a lot more heavier than the previous tracks in my opinion, kicking off fast paced and then having some strong vocal work thrown over the instrumental during the chorus gives it more of a stronger sound plus the heavy drum beats are enough to make your brain shake!

Daggers And Tongues seems to carry on where We're All Burnt Out left off with a heavier sound, more of a metal sounding opening if you like.. Still following on with stronger vocals and even gang chants towards the end, I remember this song from the live set and it was brilliant!

Two Weeks Too Long closes the EP on one of the most promising pop-punk bands I have heard this year, closing on a soothing acoustic track, I have been doing this long enough to know every band has an acoustic song stored away and it is a beautiful end to a brilliant album.

I get a load of abuse for apparently being one sided in my reviews...I can say, I have met two members of this band once and genuinely loved their live set and think they have a lot of promise.

Riff Final Rating :R R R
