Hope.Break.Legend - Self Titled EP

Hope.Break.Legend Self Titled EP

Track listing

  1. Karma has a death wish
  2. We gotta get off this island Chuck
  3. Not on your Wookie
  4. You may think you’re right, but I know I’m right

“Karma has a death wish” for those who have never heard Hope.Break.Legend before is an impactful first impression giving us tasters of what’s to come from the rest of the EP, delivering lyrics that people can relate to, an infectious riff and enough energy to run 100 marathons, as the track draws to a close the band leave you wondering what’s coming next and they do not disappoint as “We gotta get off this island Chuck” Kicks in with a yet another riff that wouldn’t be out of place at a Four Year Strong gig, it’s upbeat, it’s exciting and incredibly catchy.

“Not on your Wookie” (Thanks for the Star Wars reference lads)focuses more on the drums and vocals as opposed to making the guitars the main focus of the track, this works well to add some variety to the EP and show us that there’s more to their music than incredibly infectious guitar riffs.

Finally Even though the EP is only 4 tacks long there is variety in the form of “you may think you’re right, but I know I’m right” the slower track out of the four, This is my personal favourite on the EP as it shows a different, softer side to the band showing that they’re not just another band on the scene, so to wrap all this up, the infectious riffs, perfectly placed harmonies, gang chants and well thought out lyrics have succeeded in putting a smile on your face Hope.Break.Legend are definitely at the top of my summer 2011 playlist and with a sound that reminds me of bands such as Amber Pacific and New Found Glory I find Hope.Break.Legend a breath of fresh air and thank them for restoring my faith in a genre that is quickly fading into obscurity. With lyrics such as “it’s time to show something new so we can break the mould and we can prove to you” from “Karma has a death wish” the band give us a glimpse of their passion for what they do, and by the end of the EP it’s apparent that the band are not holding anything back and are out to prove that they have what it takes to be successful in the music industry.

A must have for summer

Riff Rating: RRRRR
