Riff Midweek Mayhem - Vintage Rockbar, Doncaster 6/7/11
We were down in Doncaster on the Wednesday to continue the trend of weekly gigs. Headliners were You Cried Wolf after a disappointing start to the night when OurFamous Dead had to cancel. Support came from Colour Me Stunned, INheptic, In Search Of Sunrise, Patriot Rebel and after a mass amount of confusion and miss-communication we had Carnelian show up and complete the line-up!
First up to the stage were Barnsley pop-punkers Colour Me Stunned, arguably one of the brightest up-coming pop-punk bands in the area. They kicked off the night in great style playing to an ever growing crowd showing that with a bit of determination we can rebuild the music scene!
Next up were surprise turn up's Carnelian, who were one of the best finds of the day in my opinion. Kicking off a heavy set and merging a great on stage presence with great ability to get crowd interaction. Definitely worth looking into.
Third to the stage were Riff new boys INheptic, hailing from Goole and surrounding areas the guys have been showing a spark of brilliance at almost every chance given to them, demonstrating great potential for such a young band these guys will guarantee to turn a few faces when they blast our their metal, melodic tunes in a venue near you.
Patriot Rebel were the next band up to the stage, who I had seen once before in Selby and they impressed there. Recently signing to Schizophrenic Records , now part of the Mindjack Records family, the guys came and demonstrated great passion for the music they are involved in, lifting anyone's hopes of a new 'proper' rock band rising from the scene..I even got to hear the kick-ass cover of 'Slither' again!
Drawing to the end of what was an eventful night In Search Of Sunrise took to the stage for their first ever gig...and my word you would not have thought it. Giving off a huge presence and sound, nothing like what I had expected from them. Great things are bound to be coming their way in the coming months.
Finally on to the stage were my good friends in You Cried Wolf, the wolf pack demonstrating their eagerly anticipated new material which is sounding absolutely spot-on, showing their live experience and kicking off a great energetic set to the now dying crowd. They have also recently got through to the finals of their last band standing contest in York, so well done lads!
The night was a great success in my opinion, we even had Laurence from While She Sleeps grace us with his presence, he even came down and checked a few bands out, keeping an eye on the competition possibly...
Photos of the event will be posted shortly, thanks to all bands that played and everyone that made it down!
Adam.
