After hearing “Hold Fast” & “Story” I highly anticipated the release of Blitz Kids debut album “Vagrants & Vagabonds” and after giving it a listen it met my high expectations as a Blitz Kids fan, so you can imagine my surprise when I did a little research and discovered that the album was recorded, mixed & mastered in under 48 hours at Londons Red Bull Studios.

Effective guitar effects & nice tone to the guitar occasional funky bassline which are at their most noticeable on “Rush” create a nice sounding texture to the album which a lot of bands of the same genre seem to be lacking these days, the tracks don’t change in pace that much, but this seems to work in the Blitz Kids favour.

Joe James brings refreshing vocals & well written lyrics to the band that are different to most on the alternative scene, his is the style of voice that gives you goose bumps & leaves you hanging on his every word combine this with well written lyrics and you find yourself left simply wanting more.

Overall “Vagrants & Vagabonds” is one of the best alternative albums that I have heard throughout 2011; in my opinion it’s an incredibly well written & produced album which is slightly shocking when you consider the time frame that it took to record, mix & master it.

Blitz Kids have definitely made themselves ones to watch with their debut album which won’t be forgotten any time soon.
