We Are The Ocean @ Corporation, Sheffield

We Are The Ocean - Corporation Sheffield

I was really looking forward to this gig because without a doubt We Are The Ocean are my favorite band. The support for the show came from Proceed and Chickenhawk.

We Are The Ocean had a signing session earlier on in the day that we attended, the turn out was good and we managed to get a signed poster to give away to our fans, so sign up!

But the signing was just the start of the day, we arrived at the venue and were taken inside to speak to Alfie Scully guitarist for We Are The Ocean, stay tuned to see what we asked him.

Before long we were inside and ready to see the bands. First to the stage were Proceed who you may have seen on TV. They opened the show brilliantly and the crowd loved them, they were also filming their set for their new music video, so when it is released check it out you may be in it! They ended their set with a cover of Kelly Rowland's Commander. These guys are one to look out for, front man Daniel Lancaster has a great voice, if you like bands such as Deaf Havana, Young Guns, YouMeAtSix then I would recommend checking these guys out : www.myspace.com/proceed

Next up were Chickenhawk, I checked these guys out a few weeks before coming to the show and didn't really think much of them, but they did put on a great show. They are a lot heavier than Proceed and pretty soon things got hectic, pits were forming and fans were dragging everyone in to them. Front man Paul Astick got very close to the fans during their set. If you like bands such as Bring Me The Horizon and Asking Alexandria then check these guys out : www.myspace.com/chickenhawk

Finally the main attraction of the night, We Are The Ocean. The past few times I had seen We Are The Ocean live they never had any entrance music, but this time they did and it set the mood for a great gig. As always these guys never fail to impress me, with Liam Cromby's amazing vocals and Dan Brown's screams along with all the on and off stage antics things got really crazy, pits formed, people were crowd surfing and Dan spent a lot of time in the crowd and pits. The set list was brilliant it had songs from their debut self titled EP and new songs from their debut album Cutting Our Teeth, they also played some of the newest songs that feature on the re-released version of Cutting Our Teeth that came out on the 4th October which also has the Self titled EP and a book all about the band to accompany it. The band left stage with fans demanding more so Liam came back on and sang Confessions with the crowd singing along Dan Lancaster and the other Proceed guys were in the pits and singing along to Confessions and Dan got up on stage to sing part of it with the band which was a real nice touch. Any We Are The Ocean fan should know that they don't finish a gig without playing Nothing Good Has Happened Yet so I knew there was still more to come. Dan announced that the last song was coming up and as soon as he mentioned the title the room exploded in cheers. Dan asked that the fans got loud and crazy for the song so the whole room turned into a pit and everyone was singing along. I highly recommend seeing these guys live & buying their music you will not be disappointed! check them out : www.myspace.com/wearetheocean

The Corporation isn't known to have brilliant sound and lighting but I think they did an okay job in both departments last night.

Highlight of the show : Nothing Good Has Happened Yet, the crowd were so involved and things were very loud it was amazing.

Downside of the show: I would have to say the order in which Proceed and Chickenhawk played, I would have much preferred to have Proceed further up on the bill they are a great band!
