Sulu Babylon - Head Shot

Sulu Babylon - Head Shot

We have been sent one of East Yorkshire's finest bands EP 'Head Shot' , Sulu Babylon have adapted their own sound and musical style and they transfuse their recorded sound perfectly on the live stage.

The EP is five tracks long and is a glimpse of things to come from the album.

Ghost In A Room - The first track on the EP is titled Ghost In A Room and starts off with a real heavy bass beat in the background and is greeted by front man Phil Killingsworth's incredible vocals. The track has everything needed in a modern day music scene with clean vocals and at times rougher vocals the band have also included synthesisers into the tracks to put a real edge on their sound.

Moonlight - Next up is Moonlight, and the band have experimented with some vocal effects at the opening giving a more echo effect over a very catchy riff. This is without a doubt my favourite track on the EP and it really demonstrates the bands intent to be different when they change from a calming opening to an energetic master piece mid song.

Paper Airplanes - Paper Airplanes is the third track and much like the other tracks stabilises the bands reputation as a band that are in no way generic sounding what so ever. Producing a song with a steady synthesiser beat accompanied by guitar riffs, bass lines and drum beats that you would expect to hear in a pop-punk band and on top of all that vocals that are inch perfect throughout the entire EP. And again more rough vocals are introduced, Sulu have really glued themselves into the Yorkshire music scene and if these tracks are a glimpse of the future then I can see them pursuing a lengthy and successful career in music.

Bitter - The next track is titled Bitter and carries on the bands unique sound, we get some backing vocals introduced during this song and in my honest opinion I think the track holds one of the greatest written riffs ever.

I'm A Man Not A Machine - All good things must come to an end and thus the final track on the EP is titled I'm A Man Not A Machine. With a more up-beat sound to some of the other tracks it kind of gives the band some diversity with soothing backing vocals throughout and with a fast paced backing track I can imagine this track being a crowd pleaser when performed live.

Sulu Babylon are poised to be playing on the Riff tour this year (August, dates to be confirmed) so if you trust our judgement on bands then check them out and come out to see them on a date close to you. The entire EP has really impressed me and the band have spent a lot of hours putting work into it and the album and it has really paid off, I can't really name a band who they sound like as they really are their own band with their own sound and a bright future, if you like to dance and want your music overflowing with energy and jaw dropping vocal and instrumental talent then I highly recommend checking Sulu out.
