Purple Buddah - 11.1.11

Purple Buddha - 11.1.11

Purple Buddha are a trio from North England and here is what we make of their EP titled 11.1.11!

The EP is four tracks long, or in this case four tracks short! It has been a long time since I have heard music written like this and it is sheer brilliance, it brings back the feel of a classic Indie punk album.

The first track titled Storm Inside (Oh My) starts off really soothing and calming but in true rock fashion picks up into a heavier rhythm with a kick ass chorus, I can hear some influence from Arcade Fire in there but I wouldn’t say they are imitating them, I think they have put their own twist on it and included a bit more energy into the track.

Machine is the next track, and it starts a lot more paced out than Storm Inside. For some reason I can’t help but to think Nirvana when I hear this, In a good way of course! This kind of backs up my statement of not hearing a band produce music like this in a long time, a track any band would be proud of.

The next track is called Our Breath and is personally my favourite on the EP, it has pace, and great lyrics. It also really shows off how talented these guys are with their instruments and how talented they are at writing music. A breath of fresh air in the modern day music scene, a real gem of a band.

The final track is called Your Daughter, this track provides a real powerful chorus accompanied by Kings Of Leon styled verses. Looking at the potential this band have if they keep producing music like this they should have no problem making a name for themselves!
