Yashin - Corporation Sheffield
Some bands get exaggerated on how good they are by their fans, but mark my words Yashin are incredible. It was my first time seeing the guys live and I didn't know what to expect so I went in there expecting very little.
The support for the show came from With One Last Breath & Volume Zero.
We didn't catch much of With One Last Breath's set as we were busy speaking to Harry and Kevin we got one hell of a great interview with the guys be sure to check it out when it's posted. From the one song we did catch from With One Last Breath I can tell you that they are a great band and have some potential, they need massive work on crowd motivation though!
Volume Zero not so well received by the fans, from the moment they stepped on stage they had about four fans paying attention to them, I'm not sure if this was because Yashin were up next and people were just getting impatient or if their music was just snubbed by the crowd. Their performance went rapidly downhill, they couldn't get the crowd motivated and even when they asked if people were excited to see Yashin people just gave a whimper of a cheer. All seemed lost for the poor guys, that was until they burst out playing 'Loli-pop' a 'Lil Wayne' cover song that has also been done by fellow rock band 'Framing Hanley' with a female singer the lyrics of the song seemed to go down very well with the male audience in the crowd, pits started to form and things really picked up. After that song the crowd kept momentum and saw the band off with a cheer.
The crowd dispersed after Volume Zero finished so we were able to get right up to the front to get better quality video footage for our feature on the band. With Yashin about five minutes away from taking to the stage a mass surge of fans came from nowhere to fill the room. Again as mentioned above this was my first time seeing Yashin and I was excited to see what they could do. They took to the stage and immediately the room exploded with cheers, they then showed us they wasn't messing around and kicked off the show with possibly their most famous song 'Get Loose' needless to say things go loud and crazy within seconds, they could give a few tips to Volume Zero on how to get a gig going. The set list for the gig was brilliant with the band playing a variety of old and new songs and finishing with their cover of a 'Britney Spears' song called 'Everytime' which has been very well received by fans. All through the night the boys got loud cheers and the crowd involved, pits were formed on demand, the crowd did everything asked of them.
The sound was perfect for all bands, the atmosphere was brilliant and with some venues around the country having been given bad reviews on security I can safely say that the staff working the gig were friendly and helpful towards fans.
Highlight of the show: 'Mr Hyde' because the fans went insane and ripped the place down during this song.
Downside of the show: Lack of support from the crowd during the support acts.
If you have not seen Yashin on tour I highly recommend that you buy a ticket! they are out on tour again soon with Emarosa, head to www.myspace.com/theyashin for tour details.
