Disarm - In the absence of good, we become animals
Disarm – In the absence of good, we become animals.
- At the end of everything
- Gagged, Shagged, Body – bagged
- Death grips and destruction (Disarm vs the world)
- A crash course in strategic dismemberment
Disarm are back with their follow up to “By Any Means Necessary” and they do not disappoint, however after my first listen to the EP on the bus home I was under the impression that it was just another generic rock/metal EP, I’ll be honest it took a good 2/3 listens to the EP before it started to grow on me, but in the end it won me over.
The first thing I noticed about the EP without even listening to it was the rather sick and slightly twisted track titles such as “Gagged, Shagged, Body bagged” & “A crash course in strategic dismemberment” and I have to congratulate Disarm for having me in fits of laughter because of these titles, however as funny this may be the tracks are all business.
It’s hard to not group Disarm and their new sound with a whole host of other metal bands who all sound pretty much the same and some fans may not be happy with the new direction, after listening to both “By any means necessary” and “In the absence of good, we become animals” the change in sound is obvious but I believe that real fans of the band will stick by them as it’s clear that all they are doing is growing as a band and being true to themselves as artists.
In the absence of good, we become animals grabs you by the throat from the beginning right to the very end, delivered at a speed that could give you whiplash and built on riffs so hard hitting they could land you in hospital, disarm are not holding anything back with this release, which belongs on the Ipod of any self respecting metal fan.
