Bates Motel @ Howden Working Mens Club

Bates Motel - Howden Working Men's Club

We were down in Howden on Friday to see our friends play live and supply the lighting and sound. Support came from Jack Robinson and Sulu Babylon.

The whole day was going to be hectic as we could already tell, firstly we had to pack up our equipment and load it up before finding the venue, which we had no idea even existed till the day then we had to set everything up. The gig was an acoustic event in a small venue so it was perfect for trying out our skills at engineering events.

First to the stage was Jack Robinson, he kicked off the show pretty well, it was the first time I had heard him play live and I was excited to see what he could do. He played his own material throughout and showed his talents on stage, I'm positive there is a career in music for him.

Next up were Sulu Babylon, I was very excited to see these guys play purely as they are one of the biggest bands to come out of Goole and I know the guys well and it's always nice to see people you know up on stage showing that they have undeniable talent. They performed brilliantly, front man Phil showed us why Sulu are regarded as one of the top bands in Yorkshire with his amazing vocal work backed up by bassist Tom they put on a great show and in my own opinion they were the best band there.

Finally Bates Motel took to the stage With Jack and Tom both already having performed Eeva and Katie were the only fresh faces on the stage. I wasn't sure what to expect from these guys but they did an amazing job and showed a lot of promise for the future. They did a number of covers and overall impressed us greatly.

All in all it was a great gig, shame that the crowd wasn't bigger though.

Highlight of the show : Seeing friends up on a stage and doing very well for themselves.

Disappointment of the day : The lack of crowd!
