Canterbury - Sheffield Corporation
Firstly I would like to give a huge thanks to Alex, Jordan and Joe from Proxies for arranging all my transport and letting me hang out with them and a big thanks to Jake and Anthony for the lift to the show!
Support from the show came from Proxies, All At Stake and Not Advised
Proxies opened the show and were brilliant! This was only their second ever show and they made it look like they had been doing it for years. Proxies are a local band for us here at Riff so it was a great moment seeing them up on stage and just knowing that there is a lot more to come from the trio. They had a good length set and even threw in a Katy Perry cover which seemed to go down well with the crowd, minus one person. Proxies fuse together a great sound using keys and guitar merged with clever lyrics, perfect vocals and brilliant drumming. The only problem was that the crowd were unbelievably unenthusiastic but still those of us who were there to see Proxies sure did have a great time! go add them on Facebook and keep an eye out for their future shows : http://www.facebook.com/proxiesmusic
Next up were six piece All At Stake and with such a small stage it was hard to fit them all on! They had a great show and the crowd started to get slightly bigger and move a little bit more but still nothing special from the fans. All At Stake are similar to Young Guns, You Me At Six and Kids In Glass Houses. Check them out here : http://www.facebook.com/pages/All-At-Stake/114718554245
Slightly bigger band next up! Not Advised, arguably one of the best break through bands of the year they could of easily headlined the gig, we have sent off some questions for the guys to answer so keep an eye out for that! Not Advised had entrance music to come on to stage with but Canterbury sneakily changed it to YMCA which was brilliant! The crowd were a lot more enthusiastic now and gave the band a good reception. Not Advised have really burst on to the scene this year so keep an eye out for them! go see them on tour they are great live for any information check here : http://www.facebook.com/notadvised
Canterbury were finally up on stage after pulling their prank on Not Advised. The crowd loved them and they performed amazingly well. The vocals were perfect as was the backing music. The drumming was amazing and the crowd were behind them. Canterbury recently released their Calm Down EP which includes new single Calm Down along with two other unheard tracks. They put on a real good show and are definitely worth catching on tour next time they are out and about, which I believe is with You Me At Six, you can check tour dates and anything else you may want to know here : http://www.facebook.com/pages/Canterbury/8435584964
Highlight of the show: Seeing Proxies up on stage and realising that people that you know and that are local to you are really getting places, best of luck guys!
Downside of the show: The crowd could of been a bit more enthusiastic the fact that they weren't very responsive to the bands put a downer on the night in my opinion.
Don't forget to check out all the above bands and catch them on tour
